Naturally the first step to helping alleviate pain is doing a physical assessment to determine the cause and factors contributing to the pain, or associated areas of involvement.
- orthopedic tests to arm/leg
- palpation of affected tissues joints, muscles, ligaments etc
- assessment of nearby joints that could be affected (examples: assessing elbow/shoulder with wrist pain, or assessing ankle and hip with knee pain)
- xray or MRI may be advised for certain situations of acute of chronic pain
- kinesiology taping: used to enhance healing and promote stability of a joint
- IASTM: promote healing and release fascial tissue in areas of tension
- therapeutic exercises and stretches: to help strengthen muscles or alleviate tension
- Laser therapy: help alleviate pain and promote healing
