What is Causing My Arm/Leg Pain?

Common causes of extremity pain include:

  • past injury
  • improper use of biomechanics ( muscles, ligaments, bones)
  • sprain or strain
  • acute damage or injury to musculoskeletal system
  • bone fracture
  • repetitive stress injuries from work, sports, or other activities
  • musculoskeletal conditions such as: arthritis, Lupus, tendonitis

HOW CAN WE HELP?

Naturally the first step to helping alleviate pain is doing a physical assessment to determine the cause and factors contributing to the pain, or associated areas of involvement.

  • orthopedic tests to arm/leg
  • palpation of affected tissues joints, muscles, ligaments etc
  • assessment of nearby joints that could be affected (examples: assessing elbow/shoulder with wrist pain, or assessing ankle and hip with knee pain)
  • xray or MRI may be advised for certain situations of acute of chronic pain
  • kinesiology taping: used to enhance healing and promote stability of a joint
  • IASTM: promote healing and release fascial tissue in areas of tension
  • therapeutic exercises and stretches: to help strengthen muscles or alleviate tension
  • Laser therapy: help alleviate pain and promote healing
